Our client, Causse Gantier, the oldest glove maker in Occitania, France, is a reputable heritage business with over 130 years of history. Since 2012, under the wing of colossal CHANEL, Causse Gantier has been crafting pieces that make it impossible for style‑savvy audiences not to acknowledge gloves as an essential style statement.

According to Mckinsey, the luxury sector is entering a low‑growth era: overall growth is projected at just 1% – 3% per year, while the heritage leather‑glove niche could still expand 2% – 6% depending on the region. Brands must reassess their strategies and adopt an experience‑centric, tech‑enabled approach, as consumers now value experiences as much as tangible goods.

Project brief

This environment creates a strategic imperative for a legacy French glovemaker: reconcile artisanal value with digital discoverability. The primary challenge is to honor a long‑standing craft heritage while meeting customers where they now shop - online.

Causse Gantier needed to modernize its live Shopify Liquid storefront without sacrificing performance or diluting its heritage brand identity. To address these challenges, they turned to our Paris‑based strategic partner Horizon, which brought in Grinteq for additional specialized support.

challenge

A fragmented UI, inconsistent brand styling, a hard‑to‑find country selector, and a minimal footer were hurting international conversions and driving up support inquiries -these were the key challenges we tackled.

The project involved implementing front-end design updates and feature enhancements on an existing Shopify store. Our primary focus was ensuring that these visual and UI improvements integrated seamlessly into the Liquid templating structure. This integration had to occur without disrupting the live site's core functionality or any installed third-party applications.

Solution

Grinteq’s Shopify team executed a series of targeted front-end enhancements:

  • Repositioned the Country Selector

Using Shopify's Liquid templating language, we relocated the country selector to a more intuitive location within the theme header, significantly improving accessibility for our client's global audience.

  • Refined Visual Design & Readability

We meticulously adjusted typography, spacing, and color contrast directly within the theme's CSS/SCSS files. This created a cleaner visual hierarchy, improved readability, and ensured the design adhered to Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG).

  • Applied Universal Styling for Brand Cohesion

We systematically implemented styling changes across multiple templates and sections using Liquid and centralized CSS. 

  • Launched an Enhanced Footer Block

Grinteq architected and built a new, multi-column footer section within the Shopify theme to effectively organize essential links and content.

Impact

The project is still in its final stages and is slated for launch soon. We expect that, once live, Causse Gantier will benefit from clearer regional navigation, fewer international support requests, and overall better site usability and performance: based on our internal modeling, we anticipate ‑30 % bounce rate, +28 % conversion rate.

Our hand-in-glove collaboration with Horizon has produced the changes needed to position Causse Gantier for higher international traffic conversion and an increased AOV through clearer regional pricing and stronger CTAs.
